N.E.F.R.
Intrigued....... yup, I was too.
It appeared on the calendar in the kitchen.
Mal has his own Calendar on which to write.....well whatever he wants really.
This is good with his memory, or lack of. He tells me about something happening and I say, “ Write it on the Calendar before you forget” I assume he does........ He also goes through papers etc filling in dates like car insurance renewals and in the past any events he is going too and when we have visitors.
We have had times when he has forgotten something as we are at the end of a month and until he turns the page when anything that is on the 1st or 2nd appears like a total surprise.
Plan B involved getting a second Calendar for the kitchen on which to write a duplicate of his important items plus mine so we know what is happening day to day.
To start with he filled a few things in by filling an entire days slot with a name and Birthday. This meant although it was a good reminder, there was no room to do anything else on that day. I rubbed the Birthdays out and wrote them much smaller in a different colour.
Now apart from the dates he has forgotten to fill in, mostly hospital or blood tests I find an entry which says N. E. F. R. Bearing in mind this is our calendar and is supposed to help both of us, I am left scratching my head and trying to imagine what it means.
Clearly he doesn’t want to make the mistake of filling the whole day with this major event and there is no useful time for the event included so I just have no idea.
Many years ago when computers took up an entire desk and everything was stored on floppy discs, file names had to be short so abbreviations were everywhere and no one had any idea what was on them. Mal was a champion abbreviator and everything was a guessing game, he always knew what everything meant. now Mal is reverting to old habits.
I go back to the calendar and write underneath his cryptic comment ..........W. D. T. M.? and wait for a reaction, there is none so clearly the Calendar is for writing on and not looking at.
To this day I have no idea what it stands for but he did get up on the appointed day and go to the hospital for his appointment with the kidney specialist so I guess that was it.
W.D.T.M by the way stands for.....What Does This Mean ?...........
I think the clue may have been the Spanish word for Kidney specialists is Nefrólogas but why the capitals and full stops I have no C.L.U.E.
